Timeline: Just after her wedding day
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: While it's possible Ecthelion and Arwen would interact, I would not thread them solely together and would make sure a second player participates in the thread.
Personality:
Arwen is very much her parents' daughter and brothers' sister. She has her father's wisdom, her mother's kind, generous heart and grace, and her brothers' match in mischief and humor (from which all three take from both parents). She's fiercely loyal to her family and cares deeply for her people. Her ferocity extends to how stubborn she is - once she's made up her mind, it's difficult to change it. She's also not afraid to taunt and stand up to any enemy that comes across her. She has a generous heart when it comes to those she loves. She can forgive them almost anything if their heart never strayed.
As much as she loves her family, once she met and came to love Aragorn, she knew her path and fate matched his. Even knowing her choice would cause her family pain and grief, she would not be swayed. She knew her father only wanted her to be safe and happy, to not be surrounded by death and sorrow. This was further proven by Elrond telling Aragorn that he would only allow her to marry the rightful king of Gondor and the United Realm, which prompted Aragorn to go off to see about doing just that, for he was the heir to the throne.
Arwen is a well read and learned elf maiden, highly intelligent and wise. She can and will give advice to those around her, sought or not, and her words are heeded more often than not. She is honest and true, though may omit what she feels would give more harm than good. Even in that sense she is Elrond's daughter. She is still a free-spirit, and the granddaughter of Galadriel and Celeborn. Willful and somewhat wild when she wishes to be. She will subtly tease her parents, grandparents and brothers. She is stubborn enough to refuse to give up hope even when times seem dim.
With all of that said, at first glance she can seem stoic, cold, and distant, as with many elves. She spends much time alone, or learning or walking the forest and valley paths of Lothlorien and Imladris when not with her family. When restrained indoors she will read or weave, or play with any children may be near.

Abilities:
Typical Tolkien-elf abilities - *immortal (can be killed or fade), meditate, light of foot, stronger than humans, keener senses, communicate with nature/beasts/etc, some healing skill, resistant to alcohol/poison/temperatures, harder to wound.
Specific to Arwen - Foresight (she can have visions of possible futures), skilled weaver, she's a fair archer and swordswoman and an exceptional tracker. *She is also of the Half-elven line with the ability to choose immortality or mortality, which she chooses mortality so to stay with Aragorn.
*Arwen's immortality is special. Even when she chooses to be counted among Men, she will live a long time. It's stated later that she only lives a year after Aragorn dies, however, due to heartache and the lack of will to continue living without him.
